Update #2 [Thu 9th Jun, 2022 08:45 BST]: A trailer revealing the launch date for Marvel’s Midnight Suns signals the game’s October 7th launch on all platforms except Nintendo Switch. The Switch logo was notably absent from the Summer Game Fest 2022 trailer (below), and seems to indicate that the Switch version of the Firaxis game has been delayed.
We will update this story when we have more information.
Update #1 [Sat 4th Jun, 2022 01:55 BST]: Gaming journalist Tom Henderson says a reveal, or at least a “re-reveal” of Marvel’s Midnight Suns could happen very soon.
The game is expected to be showcased at Summer Game Fest and is rumored to be released this October, and is expected to come in three different versions – Enhanced, Legendary, and Standard. Premium skins are also expected.
Update [Thu 5th May, 2022 02:25 BST]: After a delay last November, this game has been rated Australian Classification Board.
It is rated “M” for adults and contains “mature themes and supernatural violence” along with in-app purchases. At the very least, that’s a sign that it’s still on the way for release in the second half of the year.
If we hear any news regarding the release date, we will be sure to let you know.
original story [Thu 4th Nov, 2021 05:30 GMT]: The delays don’t stop! After Shovel knight digs2K and Firaxis Games confirm their tactical RPG Marvel Midnight Suns will no longer arrive in March 2022.
Instead, it has now been moved to the second half of the year. Whenever it arrives, it will be released on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. A “difficult decision” was made to ensure that this “dream project” for the team would be the best game possible when it was released.
Below is the complete update provided by the development team:
On behalf of Firaxis Games, thank you for sharing how excited you are Marvel Midnight Suns. We were very happy to see your reaction to everything from the announcement of the game to the reveal of card tactical battles. Marvel Midnight Suns this is a true dream project for the team and we can’t express how honored we are to create something new in the Marvel Universe.
We decided to share that we made the very difficult decision to move the launch window to the second half of 2022. We know that many fans have been looking forward to playing the game next spring, and it hasn’t been an easy decision. We have decided to delay the launch because we need more time to make this game the best it can be. We believe in our creative vision Marvel Midnight Suns and we want to pay tribute by creating an unforgettable adventure set in the supernatural world of Marvel. These additional months will be used to add story, videos, and general polish, and will be needed to help us turn our vision into reality.
Thank you for your understanding – you are the best fans in the world.
— Jake Solomon, creative director, and Garth DeAngelis, franchise senior producer.
