With Destiny 2: Lightfall’s release just a few weeks away, we’re excited to announce that the critically acclaimed Beyond Light expansion is available to PlayStation Plus subscribers until March 6 starting today. This tutorial will help Guardians prepare for Lightfall by getting the most out of the Beyond Light Stasis subclass, powerful exotics, and more.
In addition to opening an entire frost-themed Stasis sub-class in Beyond Light, the expansion also includes an exciting campaign filled with icy cosmetics, legendary equipment, and powerful exotic armor and weapons.
Wield powerful weapons
Weapons such as No Time to Explain, an exotic pulse rifle owned by the legendary time-traveling Stranger.
No time to explain: Precision hits and hits on stasis enemies will return ammo to the magazine. Stack this effect to summon a portal that will fire bullets from an alternate weapon timeline.
And with Destiny 2 allowing you to increase the power of the weapons and armor you collect, the gear you love in Beyond Light can be as powerful as you want as you embark on your Lightfall adventure. This means you can immediately start turning your Guardian into a powerful monster-killing machine that will make the Tormentors on Neptune shiver in their boots.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves; Lightfall will only launch on February 28th. Today we are going to Europa, the cold and treacherous moon of Jupiter. So, let’s start with the power that Eramis is chasing, the Dark Kell, the very power that you will master as you progress through the campaign.
First Dark Subclass: Stasis
Beyond Light is important for several reasons, but above all, it marked the first time a new subclass has been added to the original Arc, Solar, and Void trio. And this only a subclass that draws its power from the Darkness, not the Light. Dive into Beyond Light today is your opportunity to get a head start on Stasis and prepare for the threats of Lightfall.
At its core, Stasis is a power that unlocks the ability for Guardians to slow, freeze, and destroy their enemies; and each class gets its own way of owning the new element:
Warlock: Shadowlord can summon a stasis staff that fires projectiles that can freeze enemies, instantly immobilizing them. Their melee attack is a penumbral blast, which is a quick blast of Stasis energy that erupts from the staff and instantly freezes anyone it hits.
hunter’s ghost: They can’t kill what they can’t hit. Hunters use the power of stasis to slow enemies down, doubling their effectiveness on the battlefield. Hunter’s Super features a pair of Kam blades that explode when thrown at opponents, causing a stasis storm that haunts stragglers.
Titan Behemoth: If you like getting close to the bad guys, can we introduce you to the hippo titan? The Behemoth chooses the most direct path to resolve the conflict: forms a massive crystal gauntlet of stasis around its fist and punches its way to peace.
On Jupiter’s moon Europa, you’ll find Stasis, as well as Eramis, the Dark Kell, and her Fallen army. As you play the story of Beyond Light, you will discover its motivations and a dark conspiracy unfolding right on the doorstep of humanity.
In addition to the campaign that takes you across Europe through Empire Hunts and Exo Challenges, there’s also a new three-player Blitz and a six-player Raid.
glass path: In the Asterion Abyss on Europa, there is a Braytech facility with a unique Vex portal. Eramis traveled here, intending to use this long dormant gate for an unknown purpose.
Deep stone crypt: Deep below the surface of Europa lies an object created during the Golden Age. The knowledge of what it contains has been lost over time…until now. Something inside this hidden cave is whispering to Eramis. As she attempts to gain access, the Guardians intervene and in the process learn the grim truth about what happened here.
Ready to take on the challenge? Ready to face the power that whispers to you from the dark cold wasteland? Then we should probably upgrade your weapons and armor…
From a lightning-inducing sniper rifle to warlock gloves that poison enemies, here are three of the more ten new exotics that you can start collecting today for your mission to Neomun in Lightfall.
cloud strike: Precise finishing blows will generate lightning bolts at the target location. Fast accurate shots will cause a whole storm at the point of impact.
Necrotic Grasp: Melee attacks against Corrupted units with increasing damage over time. Defeating a corrupted fighter spreads corruption to nearby targets and restores melee energy.
Cry: Block with Cry to propel the blade, then impale shielded units. At its peak, damage to the fighter heals the wearer.
Some Exotics (such as the Necrotic Grip) are so strong that you can create completely new builds around them, while others are easy to fit into any playstyle you are currently using.
This is all just the tip of the iceberg. Once Lightfall launches and introduces Strand (Destiny’s second The Darkness subclass – which has a grappling hook, by the way), you will have completely new ways to approach Europa with a completely different physique. Including mixing and matching Beyond Light exotics with Strand abilities and vice versa.
Just imagine suspending enemies with Strand and boosting your Lament for a power attack or freezing Tormentor in place with Stasis. When you become a grappling pro, how great will it be to fly through the platform sections of Deep Stone Crypt using the Strand? The possibilities are only limited by your creativity.
In fact, you should probably just keep track of All You think a grappling hook would be cool to shoot him.
