Konami’s earnings report shows a significant drop in profits in the first half of 2022

Konami introduced its income statement for the first six months of the year, and the results are not great. Despite the release a little titles we’ve had a lot of fun with – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection doing a great job on “a few” – the company reported a 34.4% drop in profits.
This discovery was made thanks to Kantan Games Executive Director @serkantoto, with the video game consultant noting that Konami’s earnings reflect the company’s recent poor performance in the mobile app world, especially in Yu-Gi-Oh! series.
Anyone who keeps track of the amount of Yu-Gi-Oh! content might be a little surprised by this report – it seems like a new card-based mobile game is released every two months. Still, a profit loss of almost 35% should not be taken lightly.
Of course, silent Hill is on the horizon. We recently heard about Konami Silent Hill 2 remastered for PS5, and the company is reportedly still working on many of the franchise’s titles elsewhere.
Again, what’s the difference Indeed do? Silent Hill has never been a particularly big hit for Konami, and it’s highly unlikely that the remaster will make much of a difference in this loss of profits.
Maybe it’s time to take a break from the fog and release another Metal Gear Solid…please?
