This year has been a great year for Koei Tecmo, which has released several issues as a development or publication, but the studio is gearing up for 2022 to get even better.
First reported and translated Twinfinite, Japanese site 4Gamer published an article on plans for 2022 by local game developers, including Koei Tecmo. In it, the general manager of Koei Tecmo’s entertainment division, Yosuki Hayashi, says the studio will unveil several games that have been in development over the years in 2022, saying those games “will pave the way for the company’s future.” Twinfinite writes.
Hayashi says “the full power of the current Koei Tecmo” will be showcased in 2022 and that several games developed by the studio will be released this year. Team Ninja director Fumihiko Yasuda said fans can look forward to future games such as the action game set in the Three Kingdoms era and yet another game that he actually directs.
Finally, Fatal Frame producer Yosuke Kikuchi said that in 2022, “his team will challenge themselves to develop something they have never done before.” Twinfinite’s translation and that although it will be a long time before its official announcement, the studio is happy to get down to work.
Maybe there will be a new Nioh game for consoles and PC in 2022, or maybe even a new Fatal Frame, especially since the last one was released in 2015. Check out our thoughts on this in Game Informer’s Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water review and then read Game Informer’s Review Nioh 2 then.
