Japan Charts: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Remakes Lead For Awesome Weekend

Japanese Famitsu Chart data is now available for the week ending November 21, showing Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have completely destroyed the competition with an amazing opening weekend.

As it actually became known this morning, in the first three days of the sale of games, a total of 1,395,642 physical copies were sold. This figure includes standard retail copies and purchases from the download card, but does not include purchases made through an online store, which means that real total sales will, of course, be even higher.

The incredible start means Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were effectively the second largest Switch launches in Japan to date, with only Animal Crossing: New Horizons selling better in its opening weekend.

The rest of the top ten is mostly made up of other Switch games, although the recently released EA Battlefield 2042 entered the charts on both PS4 and PS5.

Here are the top ten (the first numbers are estimated sales for this week, followed by total sales):

The Switch itself also had a fantastic week, undoubtedly fueled by a wave of Pokémon fans who have been picking up the new system alongside the remakes.
