After the rumors that surfaced earlier this week about the official title of the Mario movie, a few more things seem to have happened.
As noticed GoNintendo, Illumination Studios Paris website actually made some adjustments since Monday. First, the name has now been changed to Animated film Super Mario Bros. – Assuming it’s still a working title. And in addition to that, the same page says that the film will hit theaters in 2023.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Yes, that’s right, guys, the new date is written, apparently, for the end of next year. What makes it even more confusing is the fact that the poster next to it still shows the old “vacation 2022” release date. Let’s hope “holiday 2023” is just a mistake.
The last official update earlier this year came from Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, who at the time said the film would release in April 2023:
“This is Miyamoto. After consulting with Chris-san, my Super Mario Bros. Illumination partner, we have decided to push back the global release to Spring 2023, April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America. My deepest apologies, but I promise it will be worth the wait.”
If we hear any updates, we will let you know.
