Hamster has done a fantastic job lately bringing many iconic arcade games to home systems, and continues that trend with iconic classics. Xexex (pronounced “Zeksex”), which will join the Arcade Archives lineup next week.
Originally released in 1991 and equipped with hardware that was far more advanced than current home systems of the time could control, the Xexex combines Irem’s elements. R-Type with own Konami Gradius and X multiply to create one of the most unique and distinctive events in the genre of shmap. It did not see an inland port until 2007, as part of the Japan-only PSP collection. Salamander Portable… Luckily, its release on Switch will make it easily accessible to millions of potential gamers.
Xexex’s addition to the Arcade Archives lineup was confirmed earlier this year, along with GunNail (1992), Thunder Dragon 2 (1993) and The black heart (1991).
Xexex is scheduled to launch on Thursday, December 23rd, priced at $ 7.99 / € 6.99 / £ 6.29.
