HBO’s ‘8-Bit Christmas’ Gives NES Power Glove Another Shot of Movie Fame

Set in the late 1980s, the film follows a boy trying to get his hands on the Nintendo Entertainment System, the most popular subject for any self-respecting child. But alas! All NES tickets are sold out everywhere, so ten-year-old Jake Doyle sets out on a mission to get one of them.

From New Line Cinema and HBO Max, “8-Bit Christmas” is released, a humorous and heartfelt take on childhood adventures. The action takes place in a suburb of Chicago in the late 1980s. The plot revolves around ten-year-old Jake Doyle’s titanic quest to get the latest and greatest video game system by Christmas.
The film stars Neil Patrick Harris (upcoming Matrix Resurrection, A Series of Bad Events) and Winslow Fegley (Come On, Fast Lane) as the adult and young Jake, respectively, June Diane Raphael (Long Shot “,” Grace and Frankie “), with David Cross (” Pitch Perfect 2 “, films” Kung Fu Panda “) and Steve Zahn (” White Lotus “).
Michael Dawes (Coffee and Kareem) directed the film from a script by Kevin Jakubowski, based on his book of the same name. The producers are Tim White, Trevor White, Allan Mandelbaum, Jonathan Sadowski and Nick Nantell, and the executive producers are Nikki Rami, Richard Brener, Celia Hong, Kevin Yakubovski and Whitney Brown.
