Master Chief has long been a helmeted hero of mankind thanks to numerous games, comics, books and spin-offs. But after 20 years of hiding his face, the upcoming Paramount+ TV show has been confirmed to expose the iconic character.

In an interview with IGN, Halo The show’s executive producer and head of transmedia at 343 Studios, Kiki Wolfkill, confirmed that fans “will see his face.” She also explained why the helmet came off. It comes down to the story they tell on the streaming show.

“I think we decided to tell a character story and a personal story,” said Wolfkill. IGN. “And once we really understood what the story was, it became clear that you really need to see a man in armor and under a helmet.”

Wolfkill, 343, and Microsoft seem to know that removing a helmet from a character is controversial choice. While some fans will be thrilled by this, many others wish the character remain faceless and mysterious.

For some people, this moment has been 20 years in the making, and for others, it’s very hard to imagine.she explained. “We absolutely respect both sides of this fence, those who really want to see the Chief’s face and those who really don’t. But for the nature of this story, it was very important to connect with Master Chef differently, and that meant showing your face.”

Another possible reason why he showed his face is that, most likely, Microsoft, Paramount and everyone involved in this decided to give Master Chief actor Pablo Schreiber a break from having to run all day in a helmet. Helmets can quickly become sweaty, rough, and smelly.

It should be borne in mind that, as previously confirmed by 343 and Microsoftthis version Master Chief is not like the one we know and love in games. This is a different timeline that exists outside of the established canon of the game. so real Master Chief’s face continues remain a secret.

Halo Airs March 24, 2022 on Paramount+. It’s already been taken for second season. Oh and keep your eyes open for classic truck if you check it’s next month.
