Gym Leader Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Has a New Monster

Remember Tuesday? The day the Game Freak came out video for Pokemon Scarlet As well as Violet teasing new electric type monster. It featured Jonah, the gym leader for next month’s game, who looks like a wtuber. and clickbaits too. Today, we’ll get to know a brand new Pokémon that will be her main character in the game.

it Bellibolt, which looks like Politoad has moved next door to McDonald’s. You guessed? Guessed a Pokemon that has never been before?! Iono literally trolls in this new video about dirty practices.

Let me tell you about “EleFrog Pokémon” Bellibolt. It is a mild electric type and expands and contracts its body to generate electricity, which it does “in a navel-like organ”. This isn’t the only part of his body he doesn’t look like – those “eyes” on the sides of his head are actually tubercles from which he fires electricity. What is terrifying. The tiny dots above his mouth are his real kawaii eyes.

One of his abilities is Electromorphosis, which is also brand new and allows Bellibolt to essentially absorb the energy of enemy attacks, making his subsequent actions more powerful. Which is definitely neat.

We also learned a little more about Iono herself, namely that she is the head of a gym in a region called Levincia and specializes in electric types. It will be interesting to see if her crazy streaming videos will appear in the game, and indeed if there will be an attempt to localize them or leave her voice in the original Japanese.

A second shorter video also surfaced today, showing Iono and Bellebolt in combat, as well as Bellebolt in the wild fighting other wild monsters.

Only five weeks of this madness before the game is finally in our hands and on Switch on November 18th.
