GTA Trilogy is very close to the worst Metacritic rating of Switch users

As you’ve probably already heard, or perhaps even experienced yourself, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition really isn’t very good. With persistent framerate issues, lots of bugs and glitches, low resolutions and blurry visuals, and some really awful pop-ups ruining gameplay, the Switch version is a bad port that really doesn’t deserve the “Definitive Edition” title.

It’s not just the Switch version that caused the confusion; Publisher Rockstar has been inundated with requests for refunds due to poor performance across the board, and fan frustration prompted the studio to promise future updates that will address issues. If you’re thinking of picking one up for yourself, no matter what system you’re playing on, you might want to revisit it for now.

With all of this, combined with the franchise’s high status, it might come as no surprise to see fans bombarding the game with terrible Metacritic reviews. At the time of writing, the Switch version of the game had an average user score. 0.5 out of 10 – only the Xbox One version is worse at this stage with an average user reviews of 0.4.

We decided to take a quick look at the Switch games with the lowest Metacritic user reviews of all time and found that fans gave only six games (out of 2,158!) A rating lower than GTA Trilogy. It’s worth noting, however, that five of those six games received just five or so user reviews from disgruntled players, making FIFA 21 the only high-profile game on the list.

We hope the promised updates arrive fairly quickly – and more importantly, they get the job done.
