Rockstar Games today released what could be one of the biggest, best updates Grand Theft Auto Online seen in years. While it might not add anything as big and flashy as a casino or a superyacht, the new Crime Enterprises update expands on the huge list of old content, adds new quality of life changes, and even adds a crazy new secret agent mission. line. It also seems like Rockstar is taking a big step towards providing GTA Online will last for at least a few more years.

playing freshly corrected GTA Online on my PS5almost hard to believe that Grand Theft Auto Online was released on Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2013. It’s easy to forget how old the game is, and this latest update seems to acknowledge that after nearly a decade of updates, Rockstar’s online MMO needed some love and attention to help move things forward.

“Criminal Enterprises” is about destructive heat. which devastates Los Santos and its environs. On top of that, rising gas prices are causing all sorts of panic and creating new opportunities for crime. And in the midst of the chaos, there are rumors of a conspiracy and the IAAGTA’CIA version) need your help to stop whoever is behind the high prices and all market manipulation.

Oddly enough, the most exciting change might be the new ability for players to complete most business operations, including sell missions, in an invite-only lobby. With this change, Rockstar is finally allowing lone players who need to sell stolen goods but also hate trolls or griefers to avoid pesky attacks that can wipe out the grind hours. It feels like Rockstar is finally giving players what they’ve been wanting for a long time, even if it might make the game “easier” or less social.

In fact, it’s a recurring theme in this update: Rockstar is giving players what they’ve been asking for after so many years. For example, starting today, you can right now run around casinos and nightclubs. Tiny changes, sure, but heck, they make a difference. Being able to run to my nightclub office in a matter of seconds was amazing, as was being able to run to the big daily spinning casino wheel. Fine things.

Another welcome addition that this update brings is new dresses and hairstyles for female characters. I feel like it’s still not enough, but it’s better than nothing. I have already seen how the players praise the new dress. for looking good years later when players shared their displeasure with no nice options.

Rockstar has also finally added shortcuts for eating snacks and putting on armor. Previously, you had to scroll through several different submenus to access any item. It was tricky in a gunfight and always felt so unwieldy that I assumed Rockstar built it this way to discourage people from eating snacks or changing armor during combat. But now all it takes is just pressing the button while the weapon wheel is open. I assumed that this change would be big, but in fact, the passage of new missions with it was shocking. I can’t believe we’ve all spent nearly a decade torturing ourselves with sub menus.

As for the new missions, I haven’t finished them all yet, but enjoyed them as a nice distraction from all of the update’s business-related content. Most of these things are good, with plenty of ways to make money with old and new rackets. However, I don’t play GTA Online just make money, I play to have fun and these new IAA missions are a great combination of combat, stealth, story and humor. Nothing really incredible, but these are some of the best contact missions in a while, and a nice way to complement this already big update.

I expect some of the more die-hard, math-focused players will soon realize that new business options or missions aren’t really as effective as doing the same heist or payphone mission over and over again. And they will probably mourn this update. Am I on the other side? I’m happy to play more GTA Onlineas these changes help me do more solo work and more ways to make money and have fun.

The update isn’t perfect as the new bolt action rifle is rubbish and the IAA missions might be too annoying for some players. But for now, it’s great to see Rockstar coming back and improving existing content, rather than just blindly adding new content. If Rockstar plans to keep GTA Online I’m going for a few more yearsas I think it will, I hope we get more updates like this that are almost entirely focused on making the game more enjoyable to play while still providing content that players have been asking for since 2013.
