Grand Opening of Okinawa Pokémon Center Celebrated with Great Animation

The Pokémon Company once again put every other brand to shame with their demonstration of how to celebrate the store’s grand opening. The newest Japanese Pokémon Center opened today in Okinawa, Japan, and along with some official fresh food store images, the company also released an original animation:Traveling lyre‘ to mark this event.

If you watched the video below, you might have a little tear in your eye – join the club! The two-minute short film shows an isolated Growlit as he travels through different regions in search of his friends. Implemented in a 2D watercolor style, the animation is different from what we’d expect from a Pokémon anime, but it’s even more touching that way.

One Twitter user @MarvicaFii, have already been fortunate enough to visit the new Pokémon Center and document the entire experience in their feed. We’ve linked some of our favorite shots below, but there are many more in store, so be sure to check out @MarvicaFii’s page for a complete overview of visiting them.

Those lucky enough to visit this Pokémon Center will be greeted by giant plush lasso and pikachu – now if that’s not enough to go, we don’t know what is. Trip to Japan, anyone?

What do you think of this new Pokémon hub? Are you going to visit? Let us know in the comments below!
