Glad to eat you! Find out everything you need to know about zombies in Dead Island 2
With release Dead Island 2 approaching as fast as the zombie horde, we’re here to tell you a little about some of the types of zombies you’ll encounter when you visit HELL-A next month.
There are three different options − Infected, Apex And Option – each with its own strengths and weaknesses, but you will learn your favorite ways to get rid of each of them (if you are inclined to this). There are also certain zombie-killing challenges. Dead Island 2 and upon completion, you will learn more about each zombie to help you find the best ways to kill.
Infected types
Let’s start with the zombies that are the easiest to kill, the infected types, of which there are three − Walkers, Shamblers And Runners. Walkers go first. They have no resistance or weakness to any weapon and can be easily killed in one-on-one combat, so they will definitely be the most fun to start with.
While Shamblers are fragile, rotting, and slow, they are weak to blunt and burst damage, but resist bleeding damage as they lack blood! Their bones are so brittle that their own attacks often cause their limbs to break. Stay away from a lot of them though.
As for runners, they are attracted to loud noises and because they are fast, they can quickly overcome obstacles. They are weak to burst and bleed damage, but be careful as they have a Push attack that will knock you back.
Vertex types
Following are some of the more difficult types of zombies − Explosives, Butchers, crushers, screamers And drool. The fuses are bloated with volatile gas and contagious black blood that spreads the zombie virus and they are REALLY DISGUSTING. You don’t want to get close to them when they explode BUT they also damage nearby zombies so use that to your advantage.
Butchers are our least favorite – they feed on corpses to grow their own bodies, so you need to quickly finish them off before they regenerate. They also have terrifying blade-like hands and you’ll likely hear them before you see them.
Crushers are bloated with autophagic-enhanced muscle fibers, and their overhead strike sends a seismic shockwave through the ground – jump over it to avoid being knocked down – and then exploit the Crusher’s momentary weakness. Top Tip: You can stop this powerful attack by crippling their arm.
We think that the worst type of zombie you will encounter are screamers. Their galvanic lungs produce a plasma stream of sonic shockwaves that knock you back and attract any zombies in the area. Attacking with projectiles is the only way to defeat them.
Unfortunately, the best way to defeat our next zombie, Drooling, is to get close as fast as possible to stop them vomiting caustic bile and then force them into hand-to-hand combat. They resist blunt force and projectiles, and are immune to corrosive damage, but slash or shock them to deal the most damage.
Option Types
Don’t relax just yet… you haven’t met Variant zombies yet! This is when things start to get really edgy. Burning Runners set fire to anything flammable they come into contact with, and as you’d expect, they’re immune to fire damage, but water and chemical bombs will douse their raging flames.
As the name might suggest, Grenadier walkers put on a vest filled with grenades ready to explode as soon as they take any damage. You’re better off focusing damage on the limbs or head in melee to try and prevent the vest from detonating. Finally, Riot Gear Walkers – to even get close to their victory, use melee and throwing attacks – explosives are a great way to knock down this armor.
