Get ready to dig deeper with Surviving Mars: Under & Beyond

Hello Martians!

I’m Liz, Product Marketing Manager Survival on Mars at Paradox Interactive Get ready, because today we will take you to a place where no Martians have gone before!

Below and further next extension for Survivor on Mars and the first game in over two years since 2019 Green Planet! During this time, we threw in a lot of ideas about what’s next. Survival on Mars… While we were brainstorming, one of the key questions that rang in our heads was not, “What can we do?” but “Where can we go?” Once we found ways to broaden the horizons of players beyond Mars, the possibilities were suddenly limitless.

I would like to tell you about some of our favorite locations, features and mechanics added to Survival on Mars with Below and beyond.

Since the players had already mapped the surface of Mars, we thought of other ways of exploring – ways of introducing mystery and maintaining a sense of discovery. Immediately exploring caves and lava tubes is something that initially just stood out as the perfect next step for colonization. Not only can players learn more about the Red Planet through exploration, but underground locations provide protection against some surface hazards such as meteorites. However, your colonists can also fall prey to natural disasters such as landslides, and even mental illness caused by prolonged exposure to the tunnel, including loss of mind due to lack of sunlight.

Survival on Mars: lower and higher

One of my favorite features in Below and furtherand something that crossed our minds early in development was the idea of being able to mine passing asteroids. Asteroid mining creates an extra layer of strategic gameplay. Players who need to calculate the risk and reward for mining, stay on the asteroid longer to mine more resources, but risk staying too long and you will lose your colonists and tools when the asteroid leaves orbit. There is an auto-load feature that makes the rocket fly away automatically when the asteroid is out of range, but the load weight limits mean players often won’t be able to recover everything they mine. Managing asteroids manually rewards the most resources, but takes more time and attention. This is a true strategy puzzle game, and I’m happy to see how players approach it in different ways.

To unlock all these exciting exploration options, we’ve added the Exploration and Expansion research tree. This tree gives you access to underground exploration and asteroids, as well as the tools needed for these treks, including all the fun stuff like boosted vehicles, buildings, and upgrades. This not only simplifies the exploration process, but also integrates previously unrelated features to empower the player.

Another feature we’ve added that helps create intrigue and mystery about Mars is Mini Mysteries (we went pretty literal when it came to naming). These mini-secrets are small quest chains that require quests to be completed to unlock breakouts, technologies, colonists, exploration points, and other surprises. We felt that these riddles added a new level of research and made it more rewarding than just gathering materials or experience.

So that is all! We wanted to give you an overview of some of the features that we love the most. Survival on Mars: lower and higher Now Available on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.

Colonize Mars and uncover its secrets with minimal loss. Welcome home! It’s time to claim your rights on the Red Planet and build the first functioning human colonies on Mars! All you need is supplies, oxygen, decades of training, experience with sandstorms, and a willingness to understand the purpose of these strange black cubes that came out of nowhere. If you embellish it a bit, this place will be amazing! Surviving Mars is a sci-fi city planner that focuses on colonizing Mars and surviving in the process. Select a space agency for resources and financial support before locating your colony. Build domes and infrastructure, explore new possibilities, and use drones to unlock more sophisticated ways to form and expand your settlement. Grow your own food, mine minerals, or just chill out by the bar after a hard day at work. But the most important thing is to keep your colonists alive. A daunting task on an unfamiliar new planet. There will be challenges to overcome. Follow your strategy and increase your colony’s chances of survival by uncovering the secrets of this alien world. You are ready? Mars is waiting for you. Key Features: · Building a Resilient Colony in Space: Building on a planet not fit for human life challenges you to build a smart and functional colony. Poor planning is not about traffic jams, but about the survival of your colonists. You really don’t need rolling blackouts in a city built in a place without oxygen. · Individually modeled colonists: Each colonist is a unique personality with challenges and strengths that affect the needs and behavior of other colonists. Things can get really interesting if your top scientists develop alcoholism after too long nights in the lab. · Futuristic Space Dome Design: Retro-futuristic superstructures in which colonists, factories and commercial buildings live with their own “personality”. Create colonies that value science above all else while tired workers drink their wages at a local bar, or try to create a utopia among the stars. · Exploration of the secrets of Mars. Inspired by the classic science fiction of Asimov and Clark, Surviving Mars holds many secrets. During each playthrough, players can face one of the individually created riddles of Mars. Revealing these secrets can bring great fortune or terrible devastation to your colony. · Randomized Research Tree: Combine static and random exploration through exploration to create a different experience for each journey through the game. Make new scientific discoveries while exploring the uncharted terrain of the surface of Mars. Unique retro-futuristic aesthetic: A modern take on the vibrant futurism of the 1960s.
