Hello everyone! I am Zach Zebrowski, Product Owner at Systemic Reaction and I am here to welcome you Generation Zero and the world of Östertörn!
What Generation Zero?
But first, let’s talk a little about the game for those of you who are joining us for the first time. The game takes place in the alternative Sweden of the 1980s in the Estertern region. You explore atmospheric and mysterious environments as you engage in first-person guerrilla action against hostile invading machines. But where did they come from? What is their purpose and where did all the people go? This is for you to find out as you search for weapons and equipment to fend off along with the ever-growing Resistance.
Looking back to 2020
Since our last Wire Post, we’ve not only celebrated our second anniversary, but we’ve also added a lot to the game and core experience, thanks in no small part to the feedback and contributions from our fantastic community.
Generation Zero FNIX Rising expanded a lot last summer. For those who love to get into history, this DLC takes a deeper dive into Ostertern’s history. Adding new characters to the mix and a few new structures to explore the map as you learn more about FNIX. The rival Reaper has also brought in a new boss so everyone can track him down and take the epic loot from him. There were even some additions to the arsenal with the introduction of US weapons DLC to the world.
We kicked off 2021 with some new features that set a new foundation as we continue to work on the game with our dedicated community.
The nominations debuted in February, giving more activity to daily players looking for more reasons to blow up cars. There is much more to come and we look forward to showing them to you soon!
The Resistance update marks a major milestone for the team, setting a new direction for our plans and for the fighters in Ostern! This addition to the base game brought the first iteration of Base Building, a repeatable horde mission that will help you collect all the unique loot you need to craft new consumables and experimental ammo! All this has dropped out with new downloads from the Soviet Weapons DLC!
I look forward to
We’ve released many updates over the past two years, and we couldn’t have achieved all of them without the continued commitment of our community. Not only because they love to spend time in the Östertörn world, but they also love to stay in touch with everyone who is developing. Generation Zero!
The Resistance update has been in development for some time. Base building has long been a highly requested addition to our ongoing battle with the machines, and this defensive mission is just the beginning of what we have in store for the future of Ostern.
All of these building blocks have become the foundation of the direction in which we see the development of the game in the coming years. We only strive to expand and expand our capabilities and knowledge, creating together with our players a world to which they will want to return again and again!
This year we are inviting millions more players to Generation Zero! Our inclusion in the Xbox Games Pass not only expands the community, but also gives you more and more opportunities for cross-play co-op between Xbox and Windows 10 players.
