Tips for mastering the island of Blackreef
If you were paying close attention to that gameplay, you may have noticed some useful tips for tackling Blackreef and its many obstacles.
The writing is on the wall … and in the air … and everywhere
All Blackreef will find messages for Colt. They often seem like helpful tips or advice, but sometimes the messages are confusing or confusing. They will start to make more sense when you discover more of the hidden secrets on the island, but you will learn to count on them from the first moments of your adventure in Blackreef.
Watch and listen
Learning from each cycle is vital to mastering the island and discovering its secrets. Of course, there is valuable information regarding the Visionaries and their routines, but there are also smaller conversations that take place everywhere on the island. If you slow down and be careful, you can learn something useful. Like, maybe something that an indifferent Eternalist lets slip through a back door at Aleksis ’party?
If at first you can’t …
… Mix it up a bit. Try different game styles. Perhaps some areas or missions are more suited to a stealth-like approach to a panther, while others are just right. supplicating for the dazzle razzle of an explosive entry. You are in a time cycle. Play around and try something new.
Do your best
In the extended gameplay, you see Colt take something after killing Aleksis. It was an upgrade of his Karnesis ability, allowing him to throw people around like dolls. Killing the Visionaries always gives you a huge reward, whether it’s a new ability or a powerful upgrade of a ability you already have, so it never hurts to kill them more than once. You can keep your favorite skills and upgrades, thanks to our next tip.
Save that Residuum
As you progress in Deathloop, you will eventually discover something called Residuum as you descend Eternalists and Visionaries. Once unlocked, Residuum can be used between cycles to block your favorite abilities or pieces of equipment, i.e. once you unlock something, you won’t have to unlock it again if you pass Residuum to add it to your arsenal permanently.
Reprise will be one of your closest allies to Blackreef. Thanks to this ability that unlocks you quickly in the game, death is not an automatic restart. If you are killed, you will have two chances to make some time to rewind without restarting the cycle. He dies a third time, however, and the cycle ends. It should be noted that time restarts only for Colt when spending a Shooting. As you can see in the extended gameplay, everything else on Blackreef is not influenced by Reprise, meaning that all enemies you kill before being killed are always dead.
