Fall Guys Goes Free to Play, Coming to Switch This Summer with Cross-Platform Play and Huge Update

According to today’s livestream, Fall Guys is going free.
As of June 21, 2022 autumn boys season 1 will be free on all consoles, for all players. Anyone who has already purchased the game will be eligible for a free Legacy Pack which includes:
- Three Suits (Vegetarian Dog, Regal, Evil Dwarf)
- Free Premium Season Pass (100 levels)
You will no longer be able to spend crowns in the store, but instead the team is “filling the ranks of the Crown” with new items. However, Kudos remains, and all players will be able to earn it and spend it in the store. You can also exchange your crowns for fame.
The game was also re-confirmed for a Switch release, along with the Epic Games Store, Xbox, and PlayStation, also on June 21st. There will be cross-platform multiplayer and cross-progress.
Here are the details for the Switch version:
- Portable 30FPS and 720p
- Docked 30FPS and 1080p
- You can use both Joy-Con and Pro Pad
A new version of Fall Guys is already available for download on PS4, which players have grab if they want to keep playing. PS5 and Xbox Series X are targeting 60fps/4K, Xbox Series S is 60fps/2K and Xbox One is 30fps and Xbox One X is up to 60fps.
If you want to play the free game before June 21st, you can pre-register on the Fall Guys websitewhich will give you access to exclusive perks like costumes, emotes, and nameplates depending on how many people sign up.
There’s also a new major update that will add new modes, new sports, new costumes, and more, but we won’t hear about that until the summer release. However, we got to see the three-part dragon and the Golden Gladiator, as well as Blast Balls, a new sport to play with friends.
Several new collaborations in the field of intellectual property are also expected:
- Ezio
- Pusheen
- Three Godzillas (Godzilla, Mothra, Mecha-Godzilla)
- New IP levels (which can’t be talked about yet)
And also a new level creation mode that is “in development” and will appear in Fall Guys in the future, but it’s still a long way off.
So, to recap:
Fall Guys comes to Switch on June 21 with cross-play, cross-progress, and cross-platform matches. It will be a free game, but players who have already paid for it will receive a free Legacy Pack with costumes and a premium season pass. It will be 30fps/720p on the handheld and 30fps/1080p on the dock, and you can expect more content later this year.
Ugh. It was tiresome. We can’t imagine how the Fall Guys must feel, although we assume it’s some kind of “sleepy” variant. Will you be getting Fall Guys on Switch? What do you think of the free game announcement? Let us know about it in the comments!
