What are the most important moments in your life? Lost at sea this is a game about life and death, about how to deal with your past and family. Set on a beautiful island, this game will make you forget your fears and take stock of your life with creative puzzles and a compelling story.
Lost at sea tells the story of Anna, who was left alone in the fall of her life. To live in her new future, she will first need to analyze her past. Build her memories with objects and puzzles on a strange island and face the question we all end up with: “Did I do it right?”
IN Lost at sea, we experience moments from Anna’s life, moments that we all learn, moments that make us all wonder how life suddenly took over us, and not vice versa. This is a perspective that we don’t often see in games; a woman, a mother who is in the second half of her life, but is still a part of society and is actively involved in planning her future.
The 50-70 age group is very overlooked in play, especially among women; it often seems that there are young women, mothers in their forties or grandmothers over 80 years old. We are happy that with Lost at sea we can pay attention to a different age / life group.
Lost at sea is a narrative game that combines linear and non-linear storytelling as well as metaphorical spaces and puzzles that will hopefully allow players to join Anna on her journey.
There is a story about the environment; the island that serves as the backdrop for the gameplay is a symbolic space that allows players to physically explore the protagonist’s larger emotions and confront her fears. The final layer of storytelling is the here-and-now thoughts, feelings, and voice of the protagonist, guiding players through the “storyline,” if you will.
The puzzles in the game are designed to point to specific points in a person’s life, revealing a wide range of human life from cradle to grave. At the same time, the significant objects attached to these puzzles link Anna’s story to these moments, and her life is told to us in miniature flashbacks using voice-overs and illustrations from storybooks.
Lost at sea invites you to explore the picturesque landscapes and fabulous spaces of the island, uncover its hidden secrets and solve mysteries as you delve deeper and deeper into Anna’s mind and soul. We hope you take Anna’s journey because her fears, struggles and victories are too human.
