In 2019 Bring us the moon, developer KeokeN Interactive has sent players to the Moon to reactivate a vital power source and pull the Earth back from the brink of disaster. In its continuation Bring us MarsReleased today on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, the goal is to give our planet a chance at a brighter future, and the only way to do that is by sending a small team to Mars on a do-or-die mission. .
Developed by a core team of about 20 people, Bring us Mars brings his grandiose vision to an even larger canvas. Where Bring us the moon there was a silent protagonist, testifying to events from the past, Bring us Mars there is a voiced host who plays a key role in the story, as well as a full cast of supporting characters. New game mechanics such as an addictive realistic climbing system, first-person weightless areas and challenging puzzles make this adventure even more varied this time around.
In the near future, terrible floods and wild storms will befall the Earth as a result of climate change. Only the Arks – huge ships capable of restoring plant life and the planet’s atmosphere – can give humanity a chance to protect the world for future generations. However, these arks are currently in the possession of the shadow group Outward, who escaped with the ships to Mars and deliberately left the rest of humanity to start over. Finding out the fate of the Outer Colonists and the whereabouts of the Arks is what drives your journey across Mars in this sci-fi adventure.
But this big story about saving the world is just one layer of Deliver Us Mars’ powerful and emotional storytelling. The game is based on the relationship between father and daughter. You take on the role of young astronaut Kathy Johanson, whose father, Isaac, abandoned her years earlier to join the Outward group when they fled to Mars. In the present, a mysterious message suggests that Isaac may still be alive, and Kathy is determined to join the World Space Agency’s mission to the Red Planet and find out the truth, even though her father is a wanted man on Earth.
“It was important to keep this relationship bubbling under the surface all the time,” says Ellis Chappell (“Poldark,” “Young Wallander”), who plays Katie and lends her a resemblance to the character. “Katie has been living with unanswered questions for years, which I think influences the way she carries herself. This broken relationship reflects her interests, her aspirations, and even her sense of humor, which I think she uses to hide her deep sadness and insecurity. It also makes Katy feel quite unpredictable as a character – where is her loyalty?”
This strain of Cathy’s true motives will keep players guessing throughout the game: has she really gone to Mars to find the Arks and save humanity, or does she selfishly want to find her father, a goal her teammates don’t share? Or does she want both at the same time, which could jeopardize the mission?

“In addition to being a grand space opera mixed with psychological family drama, which in itself is an unusual combination – one that works brilliantly – Bring us Mars is a game filled with adventure, wonder and mystery as you explore the Red Planet,” says actor and director Neil Newbon (Resident Evil Village, Baldur’s Gate 3), who plays Katie’s father, Isaac, and helped bring the motion capture cutscenes to life in collaboration with KeokeN Interactive. “It has violent undertones, but it’s not overtly violent. I think that makes it a thoughtful and well-observed piece of work, but also captivating and engaging as part of the storytelling. Danger and the threat of violence is always present but not glorified – and this undercurrent adds to the intensity of Katy’s journey.”
Newbon was a big fan Bring us the moon that he contacted KeokeN Interactive after the game was completed. “I emailed them shortly after it was released to ask them to work with them about 4 years ago,” he says. Now he’s one of the stars of the sequel, bringing a lot of internal conflict to the role of Isaac Johansson, who players will learn about in holographic diaries once they arrive on Mars. Isaac’s regret that he abandoned Cathy years ago is a key element of the overall narrative. “I mapped out his life and the events that led him to this terrible decision. It wasn’t an easy moment, but as an actor, I enjoyed working on those scenes.”
Bring us Mars it’s a game that asks players to make up their own minds about history and what is worth sacrificing for the greater good. While the Outward group initially appear to be the villains in the work, Cathy’s journey through their colonies on Mars reveals a faction that has been full of infighting and conflict over what they have done. Players will experience this parallel story as they rebuild the Arks and retrace the steps of Outward as they faced the harsh realities of attempting to colonize Mars (which, even with the power of the Arks, was far from easy).

“I think that Cathy, like most of the characters in Bring us Mars, does not fall under either the “good” or “bad” archetypes,” says Chappell. “There is no hero or villain in this game; each character is a complex representation of what it means to be human, flaws and all. Katie is an antihero; despite the fact that he is brave, determined and very smart. She can also be deceitful, short-sighted and reckless. She is a character who must make difficult choices that will question what is “right” and “wrong” for the player.”
Players will build a strong bond with Katie as she faces overwhelming odds in order to complete her mission. KeokeN Interactive’s goal is to create a protagonist that feels like a real person, reflecting their grounded approach to sci-fi storytelling, in keeping with the style of the first game.
Today, they can embark on this journey to Mars themselves, experiencing magnificent landscapes, a huge variety of game modes, and an ending that will stay with them for years to come.
Newbon explains how he hopes players will feel about Bring us Mars as soon as they finish the game. “Transported. Touched and willing to immediately call their closest people and tell them they love them.”
