Chernobyl is a sci-fi survival horror RPG from the developers of The Farm 51. The game takes place in the hyper-realistic desert of the Chernobyl exclusion zone, scanned in 3D, and explore a non-linear storyline as you search to uncover the truth about your tormented past.
Igor Khiminyuk, a former physicist at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, returned to the exclusion zone to find his bride, who disappeared 30 years ago on the fateful day of the nuclear disaster. She haunts him in his sleep, and while there is even the slightest hope that she is alive, Igor will have to face the horrors of the Zone himself. The ones that could have already swallowed Tatyana. Will you reveal the dark secrets of Chernobyl? Can you face the truth that you find there?
Tatyana Ameliyeva, Igor’s missing bride, called Igor to Chernobyl in a dream. She appears to be both a guide and an enemy at the same time. Her intentions? Unknown. In the Zone, it is difficult even to say whether she is really there, or is it just an echo of memories.

The game has several levels of survival. You will need to build your base and go on dangerous missions to find resources in the Exclusion Zone, such as food, weapons, medicine and scrap metal. Your mission is not something you can do alone, so you need to find companions and send them out too. Your companions will be critical to the success of your mission, so you will have to manage your resources well to make sure you all survive. But there is nothing easy in the Zone. Remember, everyone has a hidden purpose.
Exploring the Zone will affect you. When radiation levels are too high, they harm your health. Facing hostile soldiers and creatures from another dimension will affect your psyche. You may run out of ammo and sometimes you won’t be able to return to your base to catch your breath, so you’ll have to master the art of survival in the field. In a difficult situation, you can either create simple tools from the materials available, or work with the abandoned ones that you find. You will have to do your best to stay alive.
Elements of survival in Chernobyl all were developed in accordance with the setting of the game, the Chernobyl exclusion zone. For example, in the game you can collect scrap metal and chemical tanks that the developers of The Farm 51 saw during their trips to Chernobyl.
These mundane elements of survival combine with the paranormal aspect of the game. Dangerous and mysterious creatures enter the Zone from another dimension. To make your exploration a little easier, you have a special tool that can open portals for faster travel or travel in time and change the choices you make. But the more you use this ability, the more creatures will appear, so there is always a price to pay.
The developers of The Farm 51 traveled to Chernobyl quite often to collect data for the creation of its in-game version. “We tried to recreate the most interesting places in the exclusion zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, using photogrammetry to achieve the most accurate results,” said Michal Mezheevsky from Ferma 51. “The fact that we were able to scan this, in some way, will be, save the Zone.”
When the team reached the higher levels of Reactor 5, they could see virtually the entire Exclusion Zone. “We said,“ Imagine how great it would be if the player could see this view every day in the game and choose where to go next from this view, and even see their impact on the game world, ”said Arthur Foichik.
