In a difficult situation, you can either create simple tools from the materials available, or work with the abandoned ones that you find. You will have to do your best to stay alive.

Elements of survival in Chernobyl all were developed in accordance with the setting of the game, the Chernobyl exclusion zone. For example, in the game you can collect scrap metal and chemical tanks that the developers of The Farm 51 saw during their trips to Chernobyl.

These mundane elements of survival combine with the paranormal aspect of the game. Dangerous and mysterious creatures enter the Zone from another dimension. To make your exploration a little easier, you have a special tool that can open portals for faster travel or travel in time and change the choices you make. But the more you use this ability, the more creatures will appear, so there is always a price to pay.

The developers of The Farm 51 traveled to Chernobyl quite often to collect data for the creation of its in-game version. “We tried to recreate the most interesting places in the exclusion zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, using photogrammetry to achieve the most accurate results,” said Michal Mezheevsky from Ferma 51. “The fact that we were able to scan this, in some way, will be, save the Zone.”

When the team reached the higher levels of Reactor 5, they could see virtually the entire Exclusion Zone. “We said,“ Imagine how great it would be if the player could see this view every day in the game and choose where to go next from this view, and even see their impact on the game world, ”said Arthur Foichik. Game Director.

Places such as the Pripyat Cafe, the Chernobyl Power Plant and the now destroyed Emerald Summer Camp remain in the game forever.
