Empire of Sin When it launched last year, it garnered a lot of attention, and major publisher Paradox and developer Romero Games gave cause for optimism. Unfortunately, the 1920s gangster-era tactics were disappointing in many ways: our slogan “Eliot Mess” gives you a good idea of what we thought of the Switch version in our roundup.
Since then, of course, there have been updates and fixes, but obviously this is an ongoing project to find the right balance for the various game systems. This week, a major patch was released for it with numerous fixes and some additions, called the “Free Precinct Update”, as well as the first major paid extension “Make It Count”. The expansion adds new characters and units, as well as 20 new missions; it can be purchased separately or as part of an expansion pass.
As you can see in official patch notes added many fixes and tweaks. If you really want to give Empire of Sin a shot now that it has almost a year on the market, its numerous editions (basic and with DLC included) currently have a 50% discount on the European webshop, although unfortunately this discount does not appear to be available (at the time of writing) in North America. Or, if you picked that up at startup, it looks like now is the perfect time to revisit.
Hopefully the various fixes have brought this game closer to its potential; If you have Empire of Sin on Switch and are trying it out with the update, let us know how you are doing in the comments.
