Developer Old Man’s Journey Unveils ‘Gibbon: Beyond The Trees’

Broken Rules is a development studio that has released a number of intriguing games, quite a few of which have been on Nintendo platforms – probably best known among Switch gamers for Old Man’s Journey. Now, the studio has confirmed its next release, Gibbon: Beyond the Trees, which will debut on Apple Arcade on February 25 and later this year on Switch and PC.

It looks quite interesting, combining fast-paced gameplay with serious messages about deforestation and climate change. Some official details below:

Step into the life of a lost gibbon as he embarks on a perilous journey into uncharted lands, with a narrative that explores the struggles of endangered creatures around the world. Master the monkey art of brachiation (swinging from branch to branch) at high speed, gaining momentum, doing spectacular somersaults and throwing yourself higher and further into the air with the help of your fellow monkeys, feeling the thrill and joy of life in the wild jungle.

Gibbon: Beyond the Trees focuses on complex real-world environmental issues, including deforestation, poaching, and climate change that threatens the lives of gibbons.

– Master free dynamic movements based on brachiation, just like real monkeys swing between trees.
– Gain speed with amazing acrobatic jumps, including jumping off the arms of another gibbon in the air.
– Experience the thrilling story of a family of gibbons trying to survive amid the looming human threat.
– Experience an hour-long adventure in story mode or race to freedom through a procedurally generated jungle in liberation mode.
– Stunning 2D hand-drawn images that breathe life into a rapidly disappearing world.
– Explore diverse environments, from the wild jungles of Southeast Asia to the hectic human world beyond.

It could be a unique experience when it arrives later this year; let us know what you think of it in the comments.
