Cyberpunk 2077 players were offered a full refund upon request from the Microsoft Store for the digital version of the game. But refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 will soon follow the company’s standard policy. Microsoft has shared an update on its Xbox support page stating that starting July 6, players who purchase a game from the Microsoft Store will be required to go through a standard digital game money back policy, in which Microsoft will decide whether a refund will be issued or not.
Back in December last year, when Cyberpunk 2077 launched on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Stadia, players were offered full refunds upon request if they purchased the digital version of the game from certain resellers. Microsoft was among the companies offering full refunds on request and at the time said this extended refund policy would be in effect until further notice. Now, thanks to updating it Xbox support pageMicrosoft has shared that Cyberpunk 2077 will return to its standard digital gaming refund policy starting July 6.
In accordance with its standard digital games refund policy, Microsoft considers all digital game purchases to be final. Once a client return requests, the company takes into account various factors such as the date of purchase, the use of the product, etc., and then decides whether to return the money. Cyberpunk 2077 was exempted from this policy due to its malfunctioning and crashes, and Microsoft offered refunds to anyone who requested it. Microsoft has made its standard policy applicable to Cyberpunk 2077 given that its developer CD Projekt Red has made several updates to the game to improve the experience.
The announcement from Microsoft came shortly after Sony brought the game back to the PlayStation Store after it was off the lists for about six months. However, CD Projekt Red said there could still be some performance issues in the PlayStation 4 version of the game, adding that the PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 5 versions will provide a better experience.
