Cyberpunk 2077, the flagship game of Polish developer CD Projekt, surpassed PS4 downloads on the Sony PlayStation Store last month, ten days after it returned to the platform.
The game featuring Hollywood star Keanu Reeves was removed from the PlayStation Store in December shortly after its debut as gamers complained of glitches.
Its version for PS4 consoles was the most downloaded game in the US / Canada and Europe in June, according to data PlayStation Blog…
Cyberpunk sold nearly 14 million copies last year, but the company hasn’t provided an update. The company’s chief financial officer, Petr Nielubovich, said last month that initial sales at the PS store are expected to be higher due to deferred demand.
“This is the first sign of a potential resumption of sales of the game,” wrote VTB Capital analyst Vladimir Bespalov.
CD Projekt shares rose 3% in early trading.
Separately, the company announced that it will release free downloadable content this year for its medieval fantasy game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, inspired by the hit TV series Netflix.
