Update [Tue 11th Oct, 2022 17:05 BST]: In addition to the standard physical release of Cuphead, it has been announced that a Collector’s Edition is also on the way, containing some pretty cool goodies!

The Standard Physical Edition will go on sale on December 6th, however the Collector’s Edition will be available “at a later date” (the product page currently displays a “Q1 2023” release window) for $199.99 and can be ordered directly through iam8bit.com.

The content of the collector’s edition is as follows:

“Handmade vintage Cuphead a puppet doll, a hand-operated mechanical music box, a unique and stylish sealing sleeve, and a map showing the world of the Ink Islands from Cuphead – all in a premium box showing an asbestos protective curtain that can be transformed for display Cuphead puppet”.

It’s Cuphead’s birthday – hooray! Although the hard-as-nails platformer only launched on the Nintendo Switch back in 2019, it initially released on Windows and Xbox One back on September 29th, 2017, making Cuphead five years old as of today. Mad!

To celebrate the milestone, developer and publisher Studio MDHR has announced that the game will be getting a physical release on Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and will be available in “retail stores everywhere”.

As a bonus, the physical release will also come packaged with the recently released DLC expansion Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, which is nice! We thought the expansion was a resounding success, awarding it a 9/10 in our review and calling it “a great little expansion that adds new life to one of the Switch’s most entertaining games”.

As for the main game itself, check out our video review below:
