Capcom Street Fighter 6 has a very bad logo change

When Street Fighter 6 was first introduced earlier this yearone of the weirdest and most notable things about the otherwise unremarkable trailer was the game’s logo. Which, as I said at the time, looks a lot like a piece of clipart..

If you missed it, on the left this is Street Fighter 6 the logo that was shown in Februaryand on the right is a clip art piece available from Adobe for $80.

Considering the series’ long and glorious history of cool logos, this was a huge disappointment! I mean, look at those babies!

So it was interesting to see today that, when the game came out with a new trailerthat cheap logo has been removed and replaced with something sleeker.

actually it’s not what another. It retains the hexagonal shape of the first attempt, along with its font, but changes things up a bit by turning that hexagon into a “6”. That, which, in a clever trick can be read twice flipping it on its side to reveal the Roman numerals “VI”, going back to how each previous continuation in the series used this convention (“street fighter 2“,”Street Fighter IV“, etc):

It is now big logo? No. But this is no longer a disaster. I think it’s interesting that they went and changed it so quickly and I thought the upside down thing was neat enough to share!
