Have you ever played Brofors? Or at least heard about it? You would be forgiven if you answered “no” to both of these questions, because when I tragically flip through my desk calendar, I see the game is out eight years ago.
I absolutely I loved it thennot just because “you can’t sue us, it’s technically other” list of characters (everything is taken from popular action movies and series, mostly from the 80s, since tenacious to Rambo to Terminator to aliens), but for its joyfully explosive character platformer that played like metal slug if the level designers drank five beers before they got to work and thought that blowing up half the levels would be the best idea (it is).
When evil threatens the world, the world turns to the Broforce, an underfunded but powerful paramilitary organization that operates solely with excessive force. Strengthen your loins with four players to run and shoot like dozens of different brothers and take down the opposing terrorist forces that threaten our way of life. Use a variety of unique weapons and unleash incredible chain reactions of fire, napalm and limbs in the name of freedom.
Tuewhen I say level blast, I mean it. Look at this trailer from 2014, which I think even blood explodes:
After spending some time updating the playlist with new characters and new challenges for the next few years things went smoothly, and how the developers Free Lives moved into things like Genital Jousting and it was natural to assume that Broforswonderful as it was, it was now done.
But no! Now that we need them the most Bros back. Publishers Devolver Digital released this weekend trailer, teasing Brofors foreverupdate for the game, which will be released in early 2023.
Actual details are unfortunately scarce and Devovler simply says: Brofors forever will “tthe biggest update for Broforce” and will include “new Bros, new missions” and, most importantly, “new freedoms”.
