Good Sunday everyone; Welcome to another edition of Box Art Brawl!

We’ve got another great event in store for you this week, but first, let’s take a look at previous results. Last time we featured the GameCube classic from Rare Ltd, Star Fox Adventures. Grossly underrated at the time of its release, the action-adventure game has nonetheless earned considerable respect from Nintendo fans since then.

For Box Art Brawl, this was another duel where North America and Europe teamed up to take on Japan. It wasn’t close either; Western design clearly appealed to readers, gaining 79% of the votes.

This week we move forward in time to take a look at another underrated Nintendo 3DS game: Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Borrowing mercenary mini-games from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, The Mercenaries 3D was a good action game but failed to impress fans who were hoping for right Resident Evil game on 3DS. This happened only a year later, when Resident Evil: Revelations came out in 2012.

This time Western models similarbut different enough that we have a real three-way battle, so without further ado, let’s get started!

Be sure to vote in the poll below; but first let’s look at the design of the box itself.

North America

The North American design for The Mercenaries 3D features RE veteran Chris Redfield going head-to-head with the chainsaw-wielding Doctor Salvador: Executioner from Resident Evil 5. It’s certainly a striking image, and the background adds even more punch with explosive textures and effects.

Europe

On the other hand, the European design uses the same image but on a pure white background. It actually works quite well as a more abstract take on North American design, perhaps making Chris Redfield and The Hangman stand out even more.

Japan

Japan’s design is slightly different, instead focusing on some of the characters you’ll be playing as in The Mercenaries 3D. You have Chris Redfield, his sister Claire, Jack “Power Witness” Krauser and HUNK. To be honest, why Capcom chose to skip Albert Wesker here is a bit of a confusing choice, but we’ll leave it at that. But in general, the picture is cool!

Thanks for voting! See you next time for another round of Box Art Brawl.
