Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is set to release on October 20th, and while it’s still a long way off, Ubisoft is doing its best to make sure it’s not light-years away. Today, the developer posted a video interview with the game’s lead producer, Xavier Manzanares, which goes into more detail about some of the game’s new features.

The interview talks about the new playable characters, Bowser and Edge; the latter is shown in action with moves that prioritize close and mid-range combat, while Bowser’s size makes him a more uncommon addition. These characters were revealed in early trailerbut these new gameplay footage means you can start planning your final lineup.

In addition to introducing the characters, Manzanares also explains the role of two new planets that you can fight on in Sparks of Hope. Beacon Beach is “all about the sun, the beach”, with a temple full of octopus-like decorations, but the entire planet is bathed in darkness and rain. Your job on this planet is to dispel that darkness and bring the party back to the beach.

Pristine Peaks is the complete opposite – literally. This tundra has a central mountain, caves and a hidden palace where one of the big battles in the game will take place. Completing missions on these planets will unlock new missions for you to complete on each planet.

Manzanares also expanded on the spark’s new playable abilities, selectable abilities that “have their own active and passive bonuses.” With the removal of the classic grid system introduced in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, making good use of these new techniques looks set to be the key to victory.

Check out the video below for all the new details you can expect to see in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
