Bottom Line: Here’s What Online Switch Players Think Of GoldenEye 007 So Far

On Nintendo Switch subreddit there was also talk of tweaking the controls, but others are just excited about the return of the iconic shooter:

BBQQA – “I’m still in shock from what happened. For YEARS my buddies and I complained that we would never see this in a modern release, that it would be stuck in intellectual property hell. But somehow it happened. I don’t think the younger generation really understands the impact this game has had or how unlikely it is to hit Switch and Xbox. This is madness”.

Odie_Odie: “I still play Goldeneye on my N64 about once a year, play it for a few hours on weekends before putting my system away again, and I must say the controls aren’t that bad. It is very similar to the original. I think a lot of people realize that they just don’t like Goldeneye because of the controls. They’ve always been there lol.”

MillwrightWF – “…Just a caveat that the older millennium is here, so 007 was a huge part of growing up. First of all, I let my Fortnite obsessed son play, and after he completely destroyed me in Fortnite, it was more in my style. He does construction and stuff so that’s where he gets me in. Haha, there are no buildings in this game son and I took him out a few times. But as soon as he turned off the controls, he wanted to continue playing “Looks pretty good. Not the mess I expected. No slowdown compared to the original. Looking forward to tomorrow.”

And here’s what the community has on our sister site Pure Xbox talking about the Xbox version of the game:

gamecuber – “As a veteran of the original game from the past, this version plays better than ever. The modern control scheme on Xbox brings it to the present. I briefly tried the Switch version with the original control layout. and it would clearly benefit from a real N64 controller. The Xbox version worked brilliantly with two joysticks.”

Bucky – “Last night and this morning I completed the campaign on Agent difficulty on Switch. Just tried a few levels on Xbox and thought it was better on Switch, although it did require a bit of button remapping.”

Sugar SkullM “I love it, but I can’t deny that the nostalgia (and power) factor is strong. Still fun after all these years.”

Techno92LFK “There is no doubt that I, along with other people, would like to see an arcade version for Xbox Live, so I don’t understand why we don’t have this version. Perhaps someone here knows? However, it is surprising to see this on the Xbox console. and with updated controls.”
