Blowfish Studios and developer Drakkar Dev have announced this Blackwind has plans to launch on Switch and other platforms in Q4 2021.
The game is an action-packed sci-fi platformer that puts players in the shoes of James Hawkins, an “unlikely” hero and the only hope for the planet Medusa-42. The planet is under attack from an alien order and – you get the idea – it’s up to you to climb the front lines to push back the alien threat, using the practical AI system of your ship, Blackwind.
As a human mining colony on the planet Medusa-42 fights an invasion by fearsome aliens known as Raknos, an unlikely pair of heroes sets in. James Hawkins, a teenager without formal training, finds himself in a Battle Frame mecha costume. Determined to push back the Raknos, save the colony, and find their father, James – and Blackwind, the sensitive AI of Battle Frame – are thrown into a battle different from anything Medusa-42 has ever seen before.
Dress and charge in combat, using melee shots, ranged fire, and powerful special attacks to cut off alien insectoids. Hawkins grows from a rookie to an experienced warrior, upgrading his Battle Frame skills in three branching paths. Transform the outfit into a death machine by performing energy blade cuts before escaping away from danger and launching missiles at incoming enemies, or use special powers to finish off any stragglers. Launch your trusty drone to access areas too small for the imposing frame of the Battle Frame to reach.
You can go through a number of places, including a desert, snow-capped mountains, forests and even more, and you can do it alone or with a friend in a local co-op. If you go down the cooperative road, one player controls the mecha costume, while the other attacks with his drone.
When it arrives later this year, it will be available on the eShop for $ 19.99. Interested? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
