The open beta of Battlefield 2042 will launch in September, Electronic Arts reports.
EA Play members and customers who pre-order any version of the game will have early access to the open beta, which was also confirmed on Thursday.
Battlefield 2042 Standard Edition will release on October 22, 2021, priced at $ 59.99 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and $ 69.99 on Xbox Series X / S and PS5.
However, players who pre-order Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition for $ 89.99 on PC and $ 99.99 on consoles, or Battlefield 2042 Ultimate Edition for $ 109.99 on PC and $ 119.99 on consoles, will receive early access to the game starting October 15.
DICE recently announced that Battlefield 2042 will support cross-play and cross-progression.
At the same time, the company said it has postponed scheduled technical testing from early July to “late this summer” to allow it to test cross-play functionality.
The multiplayer game will support 128 players on maps with dynamic weather and other environmental hazards, although the Xbox One and PS4 versions will be limited to 64 players and will include scaled-down maps.
EA also announced on Thursday the Battlefield 2042 Portal Mode. Billed as a “love letter to Battlefield fans,” it will allow players to create their own match experience by mixing new and classic content including maps, classes, factions and gear.
