Baten Kaitos remasters only have Japanese voice acting, frame rate and file size
We’re still pinching ourselves that Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster is real. Revealed during the February 2023 Direct, the remaster features both GameCube RPGs in one package. And shortly after the announcement of the collection, Bandai Namco published short questions and answers in detail about what this remaster entails.
One point of contention that many had with the first game, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, is the voiceover. The English dub has some infamous voice acting issues that sound like the voices were recorded through a tin can. And in this Q&A, Bandai Namco stated that the collection will only have Japanese voiceovers.
This will probably be a little disappointing for some – the Origins dub was very good, and the Japanese-only option means we won’t get a chance to hear those voices in English here. Especially in Europe, where the second game never came out here.
On the positive side, along with improved visuals, the collection will include new features such as “encounter disable, auto-battle, cut-scene skipping, and auto-save to make it even more accessible to new players.” It’s always great to see these features being added to classic RPGs so people can play the way they want.
Bandai Namco also confirmed that the updated collection has updated the frame rate, file size, resolution, and number of save slots. Here are all the specs and details:
