Bandai Namco shared some new details at Anime Expo 2022 this weekend about the upcoming Pac-Man World: Re-PAC, a remake of the PlayStation platform game. And in this new version of the classic 3D platformer, a few bells and whistles have been added to make the game run smoother.
This is the first time we’ve seen the remake in action since it was unveiled at the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase last week, and it looks really good. Stream showcases some of the abilities that Pac-Man will have in Re-PAC, including the ability to hover jump and butt bounce. One of the new abilities is that Pac-Man can transform into Mega-Pac, which is a cool little nod to the original yellow puck look.
During the stream, Bandai Namco representatives discuss Pacman’s kidnapped family. However, in this version, saving your family is completely optional. Another thing the reps acknowledged in the thread was that sometimes players were met with unfair deaths in the original PS1. The developer fixes this in the remake.
