Atlus is wasting Persona 5 Royal’s most compelling character

Recently, a fresh announcement has been buzzing on the Internet. Persona 5 spin-off game, Phantom of the Night (P5X). Fans were intrigued by the new characters, but they were also excited to meet their old favorites again. But when I looked at the screenshots, I noticed that one person was missing: Goro Akechi. What gives, Atlus? You can’t just pretend Persona 5 Royalthe main antagonist was not the show’s most compelling character. He was a real member of the Phantom Thieves, and his haters can die from this crazy.

Goro Akechi is a high school student who acts as the main character’s rival. Persona 5. In the original game, he is known for betraying the group by pretending to be their friend. He also does it in extended Royal release, but this 2019 game update adds additional scenes for it. These social interactions make Akechi feel more like a deeply troubled friend than a dumb cop who changes his mind at the very last second.

Like most RPG antagonists, Akechi has a tragic backstory. His mother died when he was young, and he grew up an orphan (who usually significant social stigma in Japan). Akechi wanted revenge on his neglectful and abusive father, so he cooperated with him to get close enough to kill him. Unfortunately, his father was planning to kill his son all along. Akechi eventually realized that the protagonist was like him and decided to sacrifice himself to ensure the escape of the heroic Phantom Thieves.

It also helped that Royal, players will be able to spend more time with him in a brand new arc. The post-game added a new semester in which reality was completely changed. In this altered Tokyo, each character has experienced their own personal tragedy, and each person lives a happy life. This is the only scenario in which Akechi can be saved. However, he rejects the artificial world and the false happiness that comes with it. Since it is implied that he died in the original storyline, defeating the owner of this world means that he will cease to exist. He does not care. For him, death is preferable to life under the heel of some higher power.

But I wanted him to live! As you chase the ending where the artificial world is destroyed, Royal teases the possibility that Akechi might have survived. And so I held my breath at the possibility of seeing Akechi again in the sequel. scramble. I never finished this musou game, despite playing so many others. Akechi wasn’t in it, and that was definitely one of the reasons. I wasn’t terribly invested in P5 in which he was not.

I hoped it was an accident. Akechi is good and he deserves to appear in other spin-offs. Now it’s like P5X can fail me too, and I’m starting to lose hope that Atlus remembers who he is. This is homophobia and I will not tolerate it. Atlus, give me my wild bird son or give me death.
