Astria Ascending launches on Nintendo Switch today, a Japanese RPG game developed by indie team Artisan Studios and many acclaimed last fantasy veterans.
In Astria Ascending, called “an epic adventure with the charm and origin of a classic JRPG,” players take control of demigods, a team of eight heroes entrusted with the fate of the world. Each of these characters has their own story to tell across five cities, 25 dungeons, and an expected 30-50 hours of gameplay.
You can also take part in good old turn-based battles, as well as a number of side quests and mini-games. Be sure to check out the new trailer shown above.
As we mentioned above, the game was created by a team of ten Artisan Studios developers with input from the JRPG developers whose work you probably already know. The in-game narrative was written by Kazushige Nojima (Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Final fantasy vii remake) with score by Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Wandering story) and art by CyDesignation (Akihiko Yoshida and Hideo Minaba).
We actually sat down to chat with some of the team members earlier this year to learn more about the game, so be sure to come back to it if you want to know more about how the game came about and what you can expect.
You can buy Astria Ascending online now for $ 39.99 / £ 35.99 or pre-order the physical version ready for release later in November.
