3DS and Wii U online stores officially closed, purchase “no longer possible”

The 3DS and Wii U online stores are officially ending today. While you will still be able to download your existing purchases, you will no longer be able to buy or redeem new games from these digital stores. Free content, including demos, is also prohibited.
Now that digital stores have officially entered the shutdown phase in all major parts of the world, Nintendo has posted the following messages on these storefronts confirming the end of service. Here’s the message you’ll get on the Wii U, with the same rules that apply to the 3DS:
“Nintendo eShop – You can no longer make purchases from Nintendo eShop for the Wii U system. You can also no longer download free content, including game demos.”
Again, you can still download your existing purchases, but new game purchases are now prohibited. You can learn more about disabling in our detailed guide. Service Pokémon Bank is also now free to use.
