343 Releases Previously Unseen Artwork From Halo 2 Development

AT Halo, “sandbox” often refers to the weapons and vehicles on the map at any given time: all the toys you have to play with. But for a completely different set Halo fans, this sandbox is the game itself. Whether through Forge or ambitious modding projects how SPV3, a game with the very essence of the game – part of the legacy of the franchise. Now Microsoft has made it even easier by publishing a comprehensive collection of modding resources for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. And, surprisingly, some of these resources contain never-before-seen images from Halo 2development in the early 2000s.

Microsoft today official documentation released per Halo: The Master Chief Collectiontools for mods in particular Halo 2 as well as Halo 3 (other entries in the series are expected to receive documentation at a later date). As noticed Halo modder kira on twittersome documents for Halo 2 contains material directly from Bungie in the early 2000s. With him are several development images that few people have seen so far.

What’s cool about these images is that they showcase the inner workings. Halo 2engine. One of these images illustrates “screenshot_cubemapteam. I’m not going to completely pretend I know what this does, but according to the documentation, it’s used to create reflective surfaces, as we can see in the old photo from the documentation.

Like many behind-the-scenes footage, these are hardly glamorous. But they are cool nonetheless. Development Halo 2 it’s a story of high ambition at the expense of abusive crunch, much of which has been talked about openly. Various materials about the development of the game have already been seen before, and others remain out of reach, for example, legendary 2003 E3 demo (which 343 recently finally thought about make it playable). A little more has seen the light today.
