Finally, the YouTube app on iOS receives photo printing support, allowing users to continue watching videos in a small pop-up window while scrolling on their iPhones and iPads.

In a statement to Gizmodo and other retail outlets on Friday, a YouTube spokesman said the feature is currently widespread worldwide for early YouTube Premium subscribers. A larger launch for all iOS users in the U.S. is apparently in place, but YouTube has not provided a timeline for when free users can expect to access the feature.

Apple has brought print video support to iPads running iOS 9 and iPhones running iOS 14, though it will continue to work with the YouTube app it was another story. Some users have found a creative solution via the YouTube site in Safari or iOS Shortcuts. However, updates on the end of YouTube have made some of these shortcuts obsolete unless they pay for their $ 12 Premium service per month.

With official support coming to iOS, hopefully these headaches will be a thing of the past, and iOS users will soon be able to enjoy the same feature that Android users they have been able to for years.

Now, I don’t have a dog in the whole Android vs iOS fight; growing up, my family bought gadgets based on whatever brand had the best sale, and I struggled to shake that off curmudgeonly even now with access to money for Real Adults. This indifference hasn’t stopped Apple fanboys from talking to my ear, especially after I finally got my first smartphone: a Nexus 6, a model I already had a year ago when I saved enough to attack one in 2015 (yes, I know, I was super late in the game). But hey, too that one the old thing had print support.
