WhatsApp finally understands the true multi-device support

WhatsApp will soon add one of its most requested (and noisy) features: true multi-device support. Second to The Virgin, Said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart WABetaInfo in a interview that up to four devices can be connected to one account without the need for an active internet connection on the main device. All your messages will always have end-to-end encryption, Zuckerberg said.

A public beta for multi-device support is coming in the next two months, Cathcart added.

You can see even more privacy features in mind in the next beta versions. You will soon have an option to do so missing messages the default for new conversations, and a “view once” feature will allow recipients to view photos and videos only once before disappearing.

The additions don’t help WhatsApp to overcome the grievances that some have with theirs latest privacy policy. They could make WhatsApp more competitive with other messaging apps that already support multi-device connections, and they could keep some users from crowding in to secure chat alternatives like Signal and Telegram.
