The steel girl is upon us, but before she flies for the cinematic adventures alone, she sets to work in Multiversal Shenanigans by Andy Muschietti in In Flash, and we get a little fresh look at his costume.

In the vein of the previous teases for The return of Michael Keaton Batman and Ezra Miller has updated the Flash costume, Flash director Andy Muschietti took to Instagram to reveal our first look at the costume for Supergirl, which will make its new DC debut in the film, currently expired in June 2022. The Young Man‘s Sasha Calle will play Kara, Superman’s cousin and fellow orphan of the doomed planet Krypton, in the film.

As is often the case in comics, Kara’s Supergirl costume takes a lot of suggestions from the design language used for Superman by Henry Cavill. The similar structure is there throughout the dress and the “S” logo as seen in Superman’s movie costume from then on. Man of Steel, however Kara has some subtle changes, including an almost paisley-esque pattern through her logo. Which, presumably, still holds true for hope.

But what distinguishes his costume farthest from that of Kal-El is that it looks like a significant block of red on the neck and shoulder area, practically down to his chest logo. It’s an interesting choice, and one that definitely makes it stand out from Superman at a glance – we can’t just speculate given how we can’t really see the whole costume, but maybe it’s an indicator of an integrated mantle as part of the dress, compared to the way Superman is “inserted” into her lower neck?

We have plenty of time to speculate — and we’ll no doubt see more of it in preparation In FlashExpected release date in June 2022.
