The first trailer for Mark Wahlberg’s next sorta-sci-fi movie Infinity calatu a week ago, explaining how a selected group of constantly reincarnating people keeps his memories and fights and. This new trailer puts everything together to present the film as it is Fast and the Furious clone built on the bones of Netflix’s very similar movie The Old Guard, with a bit of James Bond thrown around for funsies. And you know what? Sounds cool as hell.
Seriously, I’ll give every movie where someone rides a motorcycle from a cliff on the wing of an airplane. while in flight full credit for being completely rad, and a little extra credit for Wahlberg using a sword to prevent him from being shot. I didn’t even know that Jason Mantzoukas that’s it, which makes it an absolute must-watch for me … if I had a subscription to Paramount +, which I wouldn’t.
To be fair, it’s strange that Paramount is limiting the film to its streaming service when theaters have already started reopening, and that’s not a particularly good sign. But based on this trailer, I have a hard time imagining that it won’t be fun, even if it’s otherwise terrible.
Infinity also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sophie Cookson, Wallis Day, and others. It was directed by Antoine Fuqua, who also directed it Olympus has fallen and the two Equalizer movies, which is a very good sign the action will be incredible if nothing else. The film will debut on June 20th.
