It’s an envelope for the Borderlands movies production, now that the cast and crew are done with the main photo. To celebrate the event, Gearbox and Lionsgate have released our first clear look at the film version of the deaf robot, mouthpiece of the Claptrap franchise. We were only shown images with silhouettes of the characters before this, but now we have a high resolution photo of Claptrap with a battle panel announcing that the film is done.
In the film based on the Gearbox first-person shooter franchise, Cate Blanchett plays Lilith, a treasure hunter who returns to her home planet of Pandora. To find Atlas’ missing daughter (described in the most powerful SOB in the universe), he teams up with Roland (Kevin Hart) who was once a highly respected soldier, pre-teen demolitionist Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt) and the his muscle protector Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis) the scientist and Claptrap (Jack Black) the stupid robot. “These unlikely heroes will have to fight against alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may have the key to an unimaginable power,” the film’s synopsis reads.
Lionsgate announced that one Hostel director is Basterdi Inglourious star Eli Roth will direct the Border lands adaptation of the film in early 2020. The project has been in development since 2015, but production did not officially begin until the end of last year. Now that the movie is over, all we can do is wait for a premiere date and hopefully the movie will do justice to the games.
