It could be a while first in person And TED discussions take it seriously, but you’re about to get a sort of alternative. The Virgin note that TED has made a deal to offer exclusive drop-in audio chats to Clubhouse. First, the weekly series Thanks Ass, debuted across the platform on July 12 at 11AM Eastern.
The agreement allows TED to sell ads and sponsorships for its conversations. Clubhouse will not take a part. It’s unclear if chats will be available as podcasts or other on-demand recordings, though it won’t be surprising if there’s a way to listen later.
TED already has a successful podcast business, with more than 1.65 million episodes downloaded per day.
This is a logical agreement for Clubhouse, where some of the most philosophical conversations have already been compared to TED discussions. It’s also a clever move to keep Clubhouse relevant in the face of stiffer competition. Clubhouse NFL Deal it loses part of its tone in light of that of the league Twitter Spaces Chat. The TED pact takes up some of that ground, even if the public doesn’t fully correspond to it for American football.
