Sony’s WF-1000XM4 headphones could introduce a new concept

It’s been a couple of years since Sony launched its own excellent WF-1000XM3 real wireless headphones, so it’s time for a refresher. The next model could be on the way in the near future, and if an escape is anything to go by, the upcoming shoots will be very different.

Images obtained from In the Walkman Blog (via The Virgin) indicate that although the WF-1000XM4 sprouts will have a similar color scheme, they will leave the flatter design for a rounded outer shape, similar to rivals such as the Galaxy Buds Pro.

The charging case seems to support wireless charging this time. Sony has also rolled out charging charging, so the case could charge your headphones faster over a wired connection.

It might not be too long until Sony officially shows off the WF-1000XM4. In the Walkman Blog suggests that Sony could unveil the handset as early as next month, based on requests from the Federal Communications Commission for confidentiality. It’s unlikely that Sony will release any details on the specifications (including whether this model will be water- and sweat-resistant) before then, but at least we have a clearer idea of what the sprouts will look like.
