Razer’s Project Hazel is another step towards becoming a buyable product. On Friday, the company announced the final name for the face mask. It is now known as the Razer Zephyr and you can subscribe to test device ahead of the planned release date later this year.
Even among Razer products, Zephyr had a notable development cycle. The company first announced Project Hazel at CES 2021, promising a high-tech face mask with built-in RGB lighting and active air filtration that Razer claims is as effective as the N95 mask. In March, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tang announced that the accessory maker was pushing ahead with plans for a mask, noting that he believed the Project Hazel market would still exist even as countries began vaccinating their people against COVID-19.
Since we first saw the mask at CES 2021, Razer has added interior lighting and a silicone face seal. The company also says the latest version of Zephyr is 99 percent effective at filtering bacteria. The only detail Razer has yet to reveal is how much the mask will cost.
