Otter’s assistant can transcribe your Zoom Meetings for you

At this point in the pandemic, it’s safe to say that most of us would be happy if we didn’t participate in another so-called Zoom ever again. But with COVID-19 it’s still a permanent concern and companies like Google are moving into it hybrid work weeks, it’s fair to say that video meetings will likely be a consistent feature of most jobs for the foreseeable future. Audio transcription company Otter thinks he has a potential solution to Zoom fatigue. Introduce a new software feature called Otter Assistant that will assist in calling Zoom for you and take notes for you.

The company says that the tool works with all Zoom meetings, even those where you are not the guest. Once you connect to your Google or Microsoft Calendar, you can change which calls you want Otter Assistant to join via the app’s “My Agenda interface”. It is also possible to include the software in an ongoing call by entering the meeting URL in the same interface. At that point, your colleagues see Otter Assistant as just another participant in the procedure.

And while Otter Assistant may not pretend to be you, it will allow you to focus on talking to your colleagues instead of worrying about writing down everything they say. You don’t even have to worry about missing something important if you walk away from your computer for a while. During a meeting or once finished, you can share the work of Otter Assistant with your co-workers. Authorizations similar to Google Docs allow you to decide whether your colleagues can modify or comment on the transcript. You also have the ability to add images and highlight text sections, as well as send the document to people who missed the meeting. Lucky them.

Otter includes the feature in its Business subscription plans, which start at $ 20 a month per user. It’s worth noting Zoom includes audio transcription, but that’s it too paid function.
