We’ve finally got an official look at Netflix. long awaitedmay be a little afraid live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga One pieceand, well, that’s a lot of people’s backs. But gosh, those backs match the manga and anime incredibly closely.

Netflix released the first official poster for the series today, featuring the back of actor Inyaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, who dreams of becoming the Pirate King. Like an extreme One piece a fan, I can say that I’m elated to see that even the scale of Luffy’s iconic straw hat seems to match the proportions of the original; if the series took time to get it right, then that bodes well for the rest of the series. (Though why Going to get marriedthe mast of a sheep with its mouth open puzzles me, so maybe I won’t count those eggs just yet.)

Netflix also half-released this group shot of the crew looking at their ship. From left to right: Taz Skylar, Sanji’s chef, Emily Rudd as Nami’s navigator/thief, Godoy. as Luffy, Jacob Romero Gibson as the deceitful sniper Usopp and Makenew as the swordsman Roronoa Zoro, and yes, he has three katanas next to him. He puts one in his mouth.

Alas, other than that little glimpse, the only thing we got was the promise that One piece will debut later this year. I have serious emotions now, and these are just posters. When we finally get the trailer, I might have to take the rest of the day off.
