‘Minecraft’ receives Sonic the Hedgehog DLC


Not happy to be alone a , Sega’s Sonic makes his . Just in time for the hedgehog’s 30th birthday on June 23, Mojang released a Sonic-themed DLC for his immensely popular sandbox title.

Downloadable content includes a bit of everything. Sonic levels preferred by fans like the Green Hills Zone have resulted in a change of blocks, transforming them into endless corridors that you can play with your friends. Of course, they will be rings for the road for you and your friends to pick up as you run into each other.


In addition to playing as Sonic, you can select other franchise favorites like Knuckles the Echidna, Miles “Tails” Prower and Amy Rose. Outside of these additions, you can pick up a free Sonic the Hedgehog character creator article. Finally, there will be a two-week server release containing minigames and a “special” surprise on one of the weekends.

The DLC is just the latest project coming out of Sega’s Year of Sonic, and there’s even more in preparation. Lego works on one . Netflix also plans to release one starting the hedgehog sometime in 2022. Dare I say, there’s never been a better time to be a Sonic fan.
